Welcome to SliderPlus Ver 1.0 by BallyOak Designs
The purpose of the program is to provide an interface between Webpage Image Carousel Slider and the host PC
so that shortcuts can be executed to launch apps and other navigation.
Browser security normally does not allow for this function directly from a webpage.
The system consists of up to 100 records each containing 1 shortcut and 1 image.
The control form allows for adding and updating these records.
The advantage of this system over a pure program based one is that the coding is much simpler and the browser offers
much better image control using css and javascript.
FIRST TIME USE
When first run the program installs 10 sample images and 2 shortcuts which can be replaced by your own.
LAUNCHING THE SLIDER
The slider will always launch in the default browser when the program starts.
You can relaunch the slider in a new tab anytime from the action menu.
The program does not manage the tabs once they are launched so they must be closed manually.
LAUNCH SLIDER CONTROL
The launch slider control must be running to connect the webpage links to the shortcuts.
You will find the control minimised on the task bar after startup.
If you click on it, it will restore to a small panel with drop down menus.
THE ACTION MENU
From the action menu you can..
Relaunch the slider in a new browser tab,
Show/Hide the Record Editor or
Enable/Disable the watchdog function.
EDITING RECORDS
You can add or replace shortcuts and images for each record.
Shortcuts need to be created first before being added, they can't be edited in the program.
Shortcuts can be to apps or internet links.
Images need to be JPG and preferably landscape in aspect.
The slider browser tab should be closed and relaunched after editing the records.
THE WATCHDOG
To prevent the program from staying open indefinitely after the slider is closed there is a watchdog function
that exits the control within 10 seconds of all slider browser tabs being closed.
This function is disabled when the editor is visible but will automatically be enabled when the editor is hidden.
It can also be enabled or disabled from the Action Menu.
